Job description
Spectra Tech is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Lemont, IL.


*Job Description:



The Emergent Materials and Processes group within the Applied Materials Division is seeking a laboratory technician to assist in setting up laboratory facilities and performing routine experimental work. Several projects require setting up facilities, including connecting ventilation to laboratory equipment, connecting electrical power (up to 480V) to laboratory equipment, moving laboratory casework as needed, and managing glove boxes.

The projects focus on scaling up critical materials production, which includes high temperature processing.

Required tasks include:

· Prepare laboratory facilities by moving our unneeded equipment, such as case work, and connecting required equipment to ventilation, electrical power, water supply systems.

· Operate routine experimental processes under standard operating procedures. This includes monitoring and recording data from experiments that have been set up by scientific staff;

· Analyze data and assist in preparing technical reports;

· Perform routine laboratory tasks and maintaining equipment;

· Maintain accurate records of experiments and results;

· Work closely with the research and development team to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget Qualifications

· Experience working with a range of materials and processes

· Strong technical writing skills · Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field

· 1-3 years of experience in an industrial laboratory setting

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately

· Excellent problem-solving skills

· Ability to work effectively in a rapidly evolving team environment

· Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and procedures

· Ability to assemble mechanical, industrial ventilation and electrical equipment (480 V or less)

· Computer skills: knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs

· Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations

· Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving equipment and laboratory.

Work Schedule in Monday – Friday, 40 hours a week
