Job Summary




This is the entry level into the Nuclear Chemistry Technician series. Incumbents will participate in classroom and practical training and are expected to maintain acceptable academic standards throughout the program. As a fully qualified chemistry technician, it will be expected to work independently in occasional high stress environments. Rotating dayshift and/or night shift will be required as needed once fully qualified.




Technicians in training will have classroom and hands on training which will cover various topics such as: Primary and secondary sampling, pH, conductivity, titration, gas analysis, radiological analysis, VPDES sampling, ion chromatography, ICP, and gas chromatography.




Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience




The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:




-Associates Degree: 0-2 Years related experience or;




-HS with 2+ years related experience.




OR



United States Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician




-Demonstrated aptitude in fundamental elements of science and mathematics.




-Ability to communicate effectively using oral and written skills.




-Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the framework of a team.




-Ability to work under adverse environmental conditions i.e. high temperatures.




-Requires one year each of college level mathematics (pre-calculus), chemistry, and physics.




-Must be able to fulfill duties as directed for Station Emergency Plan to include obtaining and maintaining required ERO/SERO qualifications, participating in ERO/SERO exercises and drills, and verifying availability through response to ERO/SERO call-in drills.




Education Requirements




Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:




Associate




Preferred Discipline(s): Mathematics, Chemistry, Science




Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.




Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description




Must obtain and maintain required ERO/SERO qualifications.




ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.3.1, 4.5.3.2 and 4.5.3.3. Education Requirements: HS Diploma, Minimum Experience for the job: Related experience which shall include 2 years; Nuclear Power Plant Experience 1 year. (This position is part of a formal training program whereby the candidate/employee will not meet the full ANSI requirements of years of experience until the formal training program is completed.)




Note: Dominion Energy minimum requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.
