Job description
SUMMARY
Develops and implements assigned training programs per the Systematic Approach to Training and appropriate training procedures. Assists in the evaluation of training programs and trainees to identify areas for improvement. Implements classroom and simulator training in the area of Nuclear Power Plant Operations. Works with line personnel to understand and analyze performance needs and recommend appropriate training solutions.

EDUCATION
•        High School/GED or equivalent (Required)

EXPERIENCE
•        4 years of power plant experience in an operations or operations support role, of which 3 must be nuclear power plant experience. (Required)
•        30 hours of college credit in an engineering discipline equals one 1 yr of experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
•        Instructor SRO Certification
•        Or SRO Certification
•        Or SRO License

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
SRO INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING:
Participates in all phases of training program administration, including the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.
•        Conducts assigned training, including simulator training. Schedules training programs to support station needs. Schedules classrooms and personnel to attend class
•        Implements training per the approved work plan and budget. Evaluates the performance of personnel in classroom, simulator and in-plant training.
•        Assists in the evaluation of trainees and training programs to identify areas for improvement. Participates in developmental opportunities and corrective actions to continually improve job performance and skills.
•        Conducts periodic comprehensive training program content and processes assessments and audits. Conducts industry benchmarking, peer self- assessments and industry working group participation, providing improvement recommendations based on lessons learned.
•        Maintains qualification by completing requalification and instructor training.
•        Develops, prepares, revises lesson plans, and reference material to support training.


SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
•        Ability to use algebra and trigonometry to solve thermodynamic and fluid flow equations.
•        Ability to operate and /or maintain plant or mock-up equipment.
•        Ability to perform related discipline activities in the station in support of work and training assignments.
•        Ability to facilitate classroom and skills instruction and evaluation in knowledge and skills associated with the specific discipline.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Accept ERO position as needed.
•        Accept outage position as needed.
•        Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
•        Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•        Environmental and physical requirements require the ability to don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the defined role; subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30+ lbs; ascending/descending stairs; ascending, descending, traversing ladders, scaffolds, stairs; working in confined spaces; moving safely over uneven or slippery terrain; working in proximity to loud equipment and possible inclement weather/temperature conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
•        Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
•        Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
•        Travel may be required.
•        Some plant tours and the hazards associated with each.

WORK LOCATION
•        Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
