Job description
This will be for the Maintenance Rule Coordinator position.
SUMMARY
The Program Engineer provides expert-level programmatic support for oversight of the Maintenance Rule program and other programs as assigned. Reviews performance of systems from the Maintenance Rule perspective and recommends improvements regarding (a)(1) Recover Action Plans, advocates for related maintenance, testing, or monitoring, and coordinates/facilitates the Maintenance Rule Expert Panel meeting. Monitors and audits overall compliance with their programs, performs corrective action management, and makes recommendations and implements changes as needed to improve management of the program. The Program Engineer provides support as the technical conscience for the station for the Maintenance Rule and other assigned programs to ensure that proper advocation is accomplished for plans agreed to at the Maintenance Rule Expert Panel. The Maintenance Rule Program Engineer position resides within the Programs Engineering Department and interacts extensively with the other Engineering Departments, Operations, Maintenance, and Work Control.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. (Required)
EXPERIENCE
Engineer Senior
• 3 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience (Required)
• 2 years is nuclear power related. (Preferred)
Engineer Staff
• 5 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience (Required)
• 3 years is nuclear power related. (Preferred)
Engineer Consult
• 8 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience. (Required)
• 4 years is nuclear power related. (Preferred)
Engineer Principal
• 12 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience. (Required)
• 5 years is nuclear power related. (Preferred)
• Engineering Management Team and GM approval is required to advance to Principal Engineer level.
Other preferred experience:
• Previous experience in other engineering disciplines in support of maintenance.
• Previous experience in monitoring or developing preventive maintenance for mechanical/electrical/instrumentation and/or control systems.
• Previous experience in monitoring performance trends on equipment.
• Previous experience communicating and advocating for appropriate system repairs or modifications.
• Previous experience facilitating cross-functional meetings.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• There is no Licensure or Certifications required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Technical support for the operation, maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned programs.
• Reviews performance of assigned systems and components and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing.
• Prepares/reviews/approves engineering documentation as necessary (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).
• Performs reviews of equipment cause evaluations of plant failures and identifies corrective actions as necessary to ensure strong equipment reliability
• Can utilize various forms of software to assess proactive trend for incipient conditions to prevent equipment failure.
• Considers optimization of reliability vs financial effectiveness, prioritizing advocacy of corrective actions.
• Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identifies appropriate corrective actions.
• Coordinates work efforts within engineering, operations, and maintenance or external vendors to collect and interpret data and implement recommended resolutions.
• Provides input to the at-power and outage schedules, including prioritization, logic work grouping, etc for work being scheduled.
• Systematically reviews preventive and predictive maintenance activities to ensure compliance with Maintenance Rule perspective in mind (including PM as found condition codes), test results, vendor information, EPRI templates operating experience, equipment history and system walk downs.
• Champions major maintenance and modifications that impact the Maintenance Rule, Plant Reliability, and Generation.
• Provides engineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requests for assistance from other organizations.
• Attends and completes Station, department or division required training as necessary for the position and as directed by your immediate supervision.
• Acts as "CHAMPION" for Maintenance Rule and other assigned programs. Advocates system and program health with an emphasis on improving overall plant performance and reliability.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION POSTED
• Ability to read and interpret Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Nuclear Regulatory Institute (NEI) documents to implement required programs.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as needed and be able to meet the time response requirements.
• Accept outage position as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
• Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Travel may be required.
• May be required to carry a phone.
WORK LOCATION
• Primarily Onsite – This position is expected to work primarily onsite due to the nature of the role. Limited flexibility for an alternate work location may be available in the future, based on business needs. Any approved alternate work location require adequate technology and that a solid ergonomic setup is present.
