Between 1962 and 1964, this site hosted the Hallam nuclear plant, a 75-MWe, 240-MWt sodium-cooled, graphite-moderated nuclear reactor built and operated by the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1967, NPPD was authorized to decommission and dismantle the facility, a process concluded in 1969. The U.S. Dept of Energy currently maintains the remaining nuclear-related buildings.
