The SUR-100 was a zero-power training reactor with a homogeneous, solid-moderated core. It operated at a continuous thermal power of 0.1 watt and was built for teaching. A 2005 overview counted twelve of these Siemens teaching reactors operated at German universities. The Darmstadt unit (SUR-DA) first reached criticality in 1963, and its operation ended in 1985. It was dismantled between 1989 and 1996.
