Breaker-to-Breaker Runs
2 runs
?
Breaker-to-breaker runs measure continuous operation between refueling outages using a cycle-adjusted threshold (90% of cycle length minus RFO duration). An active streak means the unit has been running continuously since the last refueling with no trips to 0% power.
Saint Lucie 2 has logged 2 breaker-to-breaker runs, continuous stretches from one refueling to the next with no trip to zero power. Its longest ran 551 days, and its runs average 519 days.

Florida Power & Light built the plant, which has two Combustion Engineering pressurized water reactors. Construction of Unit 1 began on July 1, 1970, and the unit entered commercial operation on December 21, 1976. Construction of Unit 2 began on June 2, 1977, and the unit entered commercial operation on August 8, 1983, about 59 months after construction began. In 1978 an eight-inch mesh barrier net was installed in the intake canal to restrict the movement of sea turtles.
