About This Site
Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: Wylfa Nuclear Power Station.
Wylfa is a nuclear power station site on the island of Anglesey in northwest Wales, west of Cemaes Bay, built on the coast to use seawater for cooling. It had two Magnox reactors, built by British Nuclear Design and Construction, a consortium of English Electric, Babcock & Wilcox and Taylor Woodrow, with reactors supplied by The Nuclear Power Group.

Construction began in 1963, and the reactors were first connected to the grid in January and July 1971. Reactor 2 stopped generating on 25 April 2012, and reactor 1 was shut down on 30 December 2015. Defuelling took place between 2016 and 2019.
