Breaker-to-Breaker Runs
5 runs
?
Breaker-to-breaker runs measure continuous operation between refueling outages using a cycle-adjusted threshold (90% of cycle length minus RFO duration). An active streak means the unit has been running continuously since the last refueling with no trips to 0% power.
Salem 1 has logged 5 breaker-to-breaker runs, continuous stretches from one refueling to the next with no trip to zero power. Its longest ran 517 days, and its runs average 500 days.

Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: Salem Nuclear Power Plant.
Salem Nuclear Generating Station is in Lower Alloways Creek Township, Salem County, New Jersey, on Artificial Island on the Delaware River shore, where it shares the island with the Hope Creek plant. It draws cooling water from the Delaware estuary.

The plant has two Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactors. Construction began on September 25, 1968. Unit 1 entered commercial operation on June 30, 1977, and Unit 2 on October 13, 1981. In the 1990s both reactors were shut down for about two years because of maintenance problems. In August 2013 the plant shut down after a leak of slightly radioactive water and resumed two days later.
