Breaker-to-Breaker Runs
7 runs
?
Breaker-to-breaker runs measure continuous operation between refueling outages using a cycle-adjusted threshold (90% of cycle length minus RFO duration). An active streak means the unit has been running continuously since the last refueling with no trips to 0% power.
McGuire 1 has logged 7 breaker-to-breaker runs, continuous stretches from one refueling to the next with no trip to zero power. Its longest ran 528 days, and its runs average 511 days.

Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: McGuire Nuclear Station.
McGuire Nuclear Station has two units in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, near Huntersville and about 17 miles from Charlotte. Lake Norman supplies its cooling water. It is named for William McGuire, who was president of Duke Power from 1959 to 1971.

Construction began on April 1, 1971. Both units use Westinghouse four-loop pressurized water reactors with ice condenser containments. Unit 1 connected to the grid on September 12, 1981, and began commercial operation on December 1, 1981. Unit 2 connected on May 23, 1983, and began commercial operation on March 1, 1984.
